Using AI to Increase Efficiency

By Joshua Jackowski

As artificial intelligence (AI) tools continue to evolve, new tools and software are emerging to help companies streamline operations and support employees.

At VNET, we are Erie’s trusted provider of high-speed fiber internet and managed IT services. As a leading technology provider, we make it a priority to track new and emerging trends in tech.

Our vCIO, Brian Marshall, recently participated in a panel discussion titled “AI in Business: Seizing Erie’s Next Opportunity,” hosted by the Erie Regional Chamber and Growth Partnership. There, we joined industry leaders and academics to discuss AI’s capabilities, challenges, and the impact it’s already having on organizations of all sizes.

The message was clear: AI is here—and many people are actively exploring how they can use it. At VNET, we are proud to employ workers who live and work in Erie.  AI will never replace our employees, but it can support them and increase efficiency so we can more time for our managed IT services.

For instance, AI is integrated into our ticketing system so it becomes easier to identify tickets we’ve already solved and copy those solutions, making an hour’s work done in a minute.

AI platforms like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and similar tools are trained on large datasets built from online text, images, and other publicly available information. At VNET, any use of AI technology by our employees is done responsibly, with proper oversight and fact-checking, ensuring every output meets our standards for accuracy and professionalism.

We recommend that businesses set AI policies and thoroughly vet AI tools that make sense for them. If we aren’t proactive about AI it’ll start impeding progress, not facilitating it. As the technology experts, we can help with this.

AI tools are at their best when they’re just that, tools.
